GROUNDHOG JOB SHADOW DAY
Groundhog Job Shadow Day is an initiative dedicated to engaging students in the world of work. 1. Demonstrates the connection between academics and careers, exciting students to learn by making their class work more relevant. 2. Builds community partnerships between schools and businesses that enhance the educational experience of all students. 3. Introduces students to the requirements of professions and industries to help them prepare to join the workforce of the 21st century. 4. Encourages an ongoing relationship between young people and caring adults. We need workplace hosts to join in this team effort to help educate the students of hillside high school about the businesses and careers possibilities available in the township of Hillside. The NJ Department of Education is a sponsor of this event with their school to careers initiative. National coalition partners are America’s Promise - the Alliance for Youth, Junior Achievement, U.S. Departments of education and labor, Association For Career & Technical Education and Society of Human Resource Management. Anchor sponsorship is provided by CISCO. Check out www.jobshadow.org. All businesses interested in participating must register by the Friday, January 22nd, 2010 deadline. In the month of February, we will work to match businesses with students. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, CONTACT CHAIRPERSON QUEEN KING, 973-926-1773 OR HILLSIDE CHAMBER PRESIDENT JOHN KRUSE, 908-964-6659. BUSINESSES DO NOT HAVE TO BE CHAMBER MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE. |
